SAT
The Illinois State Board of Education has partnered with The College Board and Khan Academy to offer free S.A.T. practice and preparation materials.

As a reminder, all Illinois 11th graders can take the SAT test for free on April 5, 2017 (Make-Up Date: April 25, 2017). ACT is no longer provided by the Illinois State Board of Education.

The following information was shared by The College Board via the Illinois Principals Association.

In the ongoing effort to support all Illinois students, families and educators in transitioning to the SAT as the college entrance exam for all 11th grade students, the College Board and Khan Academy® have partnered to provide online SAT® test practice and preparation resources entirely FREE of charge.

Students who take the SAT or a PSAT related assessment will receive a unique study plan from Khan Academy based on their performance. Or, even if no exam is taken, all students have access to personalized SAT study resources through Khan Academy.

Official SAT® Practice on khanacademy.org links to classroom learning and will guide students to focus on the knowledge and skills necessary for college readiness and success. Our collaboration with Khan Academy offers students and educators:

* Personalized online instruction that complements great classroom instruction.
* Official SAT practice questions and full-length tests written by the College Board
* Detailed information on student progress to guide next steps
Free access – anytime, anywhere

As of January 2016, students are able to link their College Board and Khan Academy accounts when they receive their PSAT/NMSQT results. Linking these accounts will further personalize their practice as the practice recommendations on Kahn Academy will be based on their PSAT/NMSQT results. All future scores from the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10 and PSAT 8/9 can also be linked to help customize student practice and recommendations on Khan Academy. Even if no exam is taken, students can access all the educational tools available through Khan Academy anytime, anywhere, free of charge.

Students can link their College Board and Khan Academy Accounts in three easy steps:

Step 1 – Log in to or create your Kahn Academy account at satpractice.org

Step 2 – When prompted, agree to link your Khan Academy and College Board accounts

Step 3 – Sign in or create your College Board Account and hit “Send” to send your scores (if available)

In addition to online practice through the College Board and Khan Academy, students can also download the “Daily Practice for the New SAT” app available for iPhone or Android devices. By downloading this app, students can make practice part of their routine – any place, any time: sat.org/scoring.

We at the College Board in collaboration with the Illinois Principals Association look forward to our continued efforts to share information on upcoming trainings, resources, materials and important updates. Please visit collegereadiness.collegeboard.org for additional information on all things related to the SAT. If you have any specific questions please do not hesitate to contact our dedicated field team assigned to work with local schools and districts only in the state of Illinois at (847) 653-4500 or at ilsat@collegeboard.org.
